Annual Open Show: La Habra Art Association November Art Festival

The Annual Open Show is a juried competition that is open to the public.

Art Categories

The following categories are open for entry into this year's art festival. LHAA reserves the right to adjust categories to reflect actual entries. Any category with less than 15 entries will not be considered separately.

Best of Show: $200

First Place: $100

Exhibit Calendar

Delivery of Entries: Thursday, November 1 through Saturday, November 3, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Pick-up of Non-selected Work: Friday, November 9th and Saturday, November 10th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Exhibition Dates: Thursday, November 8th through Thursday, November 29th. Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Reception: Saturday, November 10th, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pick-up of Exhibited Work: Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Eligibility & Specifications

Competition is open to Southern California Artists. All entries must be original (no copies) and created within the last three years. Work may not have been previously displayed in this show. No work will be accepted that has had hands-on contact by anyone other than the submitting artist.

All art must by dry, framed, wired (no sawtooth hangers), and ready to hang. It may not exceed 42 inches horizontally or vertically, including the frame. Works requiring special assembly or installation will not be accepted. The number of entries is not limited, although entry into the jury process does not guarantee acceptance into the show.

Entry Fees & Forms

La Habra Art Association Members: $10
Non-members: $15

Entry forms can be obtained at the La Habra Art Association Gallery. All information must be provided on the entry forms legibly and signed by the artist. Each entry requires a separate entry form. Tape the LABEL portion to the top left corner backside of your art. Forms may be reproduced. Additional forms are available on request and at take-in. Packaged bin works must be labeled with artist name and price and be listed on the bin list.

Sales/Liability

A 25% commission will be retained on all sales based on price listed by the artist. Art not for sale must be clearly marked NFS. Entries will be handled with great care, however the La Habra Art Association and Gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage. The artist should carry his or her own insurance.

Accepted artists may have properly packaged, flat works to display in a bin for additional sales during the exhibit. No work may be removed until the end of the exhibit (with the exception of packaged bin sales art).

About the Juror

Judy Schroeder is an artist, educator, author, speaker and owner of a successful art gallery in Orange, CA. She has traveled and painted extensively in the US, Mexico, French Polynesia, Western Samoa, England, Italy, Spain and Portugal. She received a BA from University of Redlands with a special secondary credential in art teaching. She has studied with many leading American artists, including Gerald Brommer, Rex Brandt, Keith Crown, Robert E. Wood, and Millard Sheets.
