The La Habra Heights Fine Artists and Artisans began 5 years ago at the hands of Larry Hart,Veronica Kortz and Janice Slattery. The idea behind the group is that it is made up of La Habra Heights’ residents who enjoy fine art in a non-competitive setting. Membership in
the group is free and there is no acting leader; everything is up to the group as a whole and everything is voluntary. The main mission of the artist group is to provide one another with encouragement at a monthly gathering where food, drink, camaraderie and art which is in progress or finished are shared. The group is unique in that it consists of people who work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, glass, photography, ceramics, wood and more! There are approximately half men and half women. They are an active group of artists many of whom teach art, make a living with art and are in other shows as the Hillcrest Festival of Art. Most of the members have joined the La Habra Art Association which offers a myriad of events having to do with the fine arts: classes, demonstrations, programs and most importantly they host art shows! The La Habra Heights Artists and Artisans are extremely thankful for the continued support of the La Habra Art Association which has been host to the group’s annual Tapestry Art Show these last 4 years.
The La Habra Art Gallery is located at 215 N. Orange Street in La Habra (north of the La Habra Library) and is open from 1-5pm, Thursday through Sunday. Admission to the Gallery is always free.
February Photography Show
February 2 – 23, 2012
Another first for LHAA is this year’s juried Photography show! We are looking forward to some great work from the photography artists of our area. The juror for this show is award-winning, international photographer and lecturer, Art Suwansang. Mr. Suwansang is founder and CEO of Wedding64, a wedding and portrait service that runs around the world to “destination” weddings and engagements. Art’s professional work is both in film and digital, but he is also a digital specialist in the workflow area for professional photographers, providing lectures, articles and workshops on Adobe Lightroom. He teaches Photoshop and digital photography at Santa Monica Community College and the University of La Verne. Art will be available at the Opening Reception to meet and speak with you about your work and photography in general. You can see his work on his websites: www.wedding64.com and www.ro3rds.com.
The entries will be open to two divisions: Conventional and Technical. The Conventional categories include the traditional look from the lens in capturing portraits and landscapes without the software manipulation that you would use in the Technical categories involving the photograph as a starting point to create a new image. Photographers are encouraged to enter both divisions to show their versatility with the camera as their medium.
January Members-Only Juried Show

This is the first of the year show for LHAA members! This is an opportunity to have your work juried and critiqued – an essential learning opportunity to build on your skills and artistic development. Meet with the juror on January 15th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm for a critique of your entries. Drop-off dates: 1/5, 1/6, and 1/7 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Pick-up dates: 1/27 and 1/28 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
November Art Festival
November 3 – 18, 2011
Our juried November Art Festival is opening soon! This fine art presentation of work by area artists has been a staple event at the La Habra Art Association Gallery since its earliest days. Work will be accepted for the show from Thursday, October 27th until Saturday, October 29th. Work not selected for the show will be available for pick-up on November 4th and 5th.
Our juror for this show is Marciano Martinez, artist and celebrated local educator, who has exhibited his work professionally, in both national and international exhibitions. He has had a distinguished career as an instructor at Fullerton College for many years, and has just recently retired to be able to spend more time on his own artwork. He befriended and studied with Milford Zornes, a revered California Impressionist, and many other well-known artists.
Please check our calendar for Reception dates and gallery times.
